Today's book review is Eric by Terry Pratchett.

This is an earlier Discworld novel (copyright 1990), but I had missed it until now.  It's a Rincewind story, and Rincewind is not my favorite character.  And reading it after recently reading the latest books in the series underscores how much Pterry has grown as a writer.  The plot is contrived and crazy, and the characters are pretty thin.  Really, there's nothing in this book but humor, but there's an enormous amount of that.  This book is utterly hilarious.  Beyond pure humor, Pratchett lampoons corporate culture (which is shooting fish in a barrel, but he does it well), and pokes a few holes in the glories of war and how we remember history.

Good fun.  8 out of 10.
