Today's book review is Circle of the Moon by Barbara Hambly.

Sheesh, I finally finished it.

This is the sequel to Sisters of the Raven which I reviewed recently.  It takes up the story a few months after the previous book ends, following mostly the same characters through more interesting challenges in the same world.  I think I remembered the first book more vividly than Hambly did, in that a few things had changed in ways that I found somewhat jarring, but the world continues to be interesting.  This book, considered on its own merits, is a good fantasy novel, with fresh fantasy ideas and also with some interesting comments on human society.  But for some reason, it took me several weeks to wade through 470 pages, and the fact that it took me so long to get through the book detracted from my enjoyment.

A solid fantasy, not quite as good as Sisters but worth reading.  8 out of 10.
