Florida trip: Wolf Creek Dam
Aug. 11th, 2005 06:35 pmLater on Friday, July 22, I stopped at an overlook just past Wolf Creek Dam on US 127 in southeastern Kentucky. (I know I said that the bug in the previous post was in Tennessee, but I appear to have been mistaken, because Wolf Lake is in Kentucky.)
Here's a view of the lake from the overlook. It wasn't really a very good place for viewing the lake -- there was a fence, and there were too many trees on the other side of the fence. But you could could see if you looked from just the right place.

It was a pretty steep climb up the hill to the overlook, but it was pretty. I took a picture of the moss and lichen on a tree trunk while I was catching my breath.
However, the real treat at this stop, what took up most of my time and inspired me to take the most pictures, was right in the parking lot. There were several beautiful blooming mimosa trees in the parking lot, and there were lots of butterflies visiting the flowers. Here's a few of them:
