OVFF

Good grief, I'm leaving for OVFF in less than 44 hours.  I am so not ready for OVFF.  I've hardly touched a guitar in weeks; I've fallen into one of those ruts of not being in the habit of playing, and for the last several weeks I've had a nagging pain in my right elbow that has slightly discouraged me from picking up the guitar.  I also haven't done some photo projects that I've really meant to do for OVFF for months; I got started on the main one on Monday, and just lost the momentum.

I trust I will be able to have a good time even if I don't perform much and don't have much new photography to show off.  I really need a con to give me a social kick in the ass and get me out of the hole I'm inhabiting right now.  I'm sure I will be happy Friday through Sunday; the trick will be not falling back into the hole when I get home.

[livejournal.com profile] birder2 and I expect to arrive at-con around 4PM on Friday.  Anyone for a reasonably quick and inexpensive dinner before the Tea Party?

As always, just happy to read your posts (including your meaty and thoughtful book reviews). I hope you're feeling a bit more confident when I see you at WindyCon. (You'll be there, right?) Let's hope this con does give you the kick you need. Yes, sometimes I show up at a con without being "in practice" on guitar; so I play Friday night anyway, and then on Saturday I'm a bit more in practice and more ready for whatever happens. Or if I get really musically clumsy and clutzy on Friday nights (which does happen) then I can practice a bit on Saturday afternoon. Stay in touch.

Nate

I haven't missed a WindyCon since 1979 and I'm not starting now. I will be trying to spend much less money than usual, but I'll be there, probably making a nuisance of myself at your concert taking pictures.

Thanks for the encouragement on the book reviews.

Smile - I don't know that I have ever known anyone who felt they were read for an convention or event. There is always something that needs to be done, packed, made, learned, finished or was forgotten. Fun is usually had despite this. Hope our elbow is feeling better and you enjoy your weekend.

Please don't misinterpret this -- I'm thrilled to have you read and comment on my journal -- but do I know you in real life? I don't remember any identity for you other than a LJ name/icon, but I'm terrible at remembering names anyway. If i know you, give me a hint, by email if you don't want to post publicly.

You have no clue who I am because you have no clue who I am. I found you through a friends of list and liked reading your reviews and about the cats.

You think *you're* not ready for OVFF?

We can blame Seanan. She used up all of the potential getting-ready-for-OVFF in the universe.

The program schedule on the web site looks good to me. Plenty of stuff going on.

The schedule is fine. It's the rest of the stuff I have to do.

q Write out guest/participant duty sheets
q Print out list of people going to Book Loft
q Arrange ride shares for Book Loft
q Print out directions for Book Loft
q Print THREES lyrics – as I plan to sing them
q Print e.e. cummings round lyrics
q Pick up Becca from airport
q Check with Kathy if sign-up sheets for song contests are created, and drawings for one-shots and twofers.
q See if anyone has bought guest gifts!
q Call Becky re: gift
q Paint gift once received
q Pack – see other list

Is anyone ever "ready?"

Maybe not, but there are people who can actually check off all of the reasonably achievable concrete tasks they wanted to accomplish in several weeks of lead time. But not me.

Goof that I am, all my music energy has gone into writing new songs that I want to have ready, and no effort into practice, making little CD's to give away, ro making sheet musci in cast the opportunity to collaborate should arise. And getting some #14 strings for my dulcimer.

Hopefully, I'll actually get to sing the new songs.

Looking forward to seeing you! This is your gentle reminder about the calender. *g*

And unfortunately, I have NO idea what time I'll be arriving on Friday.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to mention in the original post that I will have calendars available. I'll have about 10 of them. They're nominally for other people later, but I can always buy more.
