RIP Patti

We lost Patti, a female tiger, this week.  I didn't know her well, but any tiger dying hurts.


Here's the last picture I took of Patti.

She had stopped eating and was bleeding.  I believe that the cancer she'd had surgery for previously recurred.  She was about 14.

Oh, that is very sad. I have held too many cats as they died in my arms or as the needle went in. I always hope they are past the point of pain, but aware that they are being petted and loved. I hope someone (human or tiger) was able to comfort Patti, and that other tigers will be born to carry on. There are far too few tigers in the world.
