Tiny moth at Homer Lake
Apr. 24th, 2006 05:23 pmI took a walk at Homer Lake on Saturday with my camera. I meant to post more comprehensively about it, but I've had no energy today, and every time I try to focus, I find myself dithering about which image I want to work with. But I do want to post something before I head off for dinner, and this is something I can do fairly quickly.
While I was walking through the woods, I noticed a tiny moth. Except for the fact that he was about ¼" long, and the ones I am used to are 2" long, he looked like an underwing moth. He was sitting quite placidly in the one place I couldn't possibly take his picture -- on the camera! But as I was thinking how unfortunate that was, he moved onto my left thumb, so I held out my left arm and took pictures with my right hand.

In this picture, you can get a fair idea of what the moth looked like, and I left enough of my thumb in the picture to give good scale.

In this one, you can clearly see his antennae.
