When you live in (or near) a really small town, hearing it mentioned on the news can be scary.

Today they're saying that our state government is trying to land a new Honda plant.  For a site described as "near Fithian"; I haven't figured out more specifically where it is, but it would certainly be close enough to change things around here, and not the way I want.

It probably won't amount to anything -- Honda will probably locate the new plant closer to their existing plants in Ohio.

Maybe not. There's something to be said for a business diversifying its locations.

Actually, an auto plant in the general area of Danville would be fantastic for the area economy (and since auto plant slaves get paid much better than most slaves -- even non-union autoworkers are well paid -- they would not have a hard time finding employees unless their standards are unreasonably high); the problem is that hundreds of people would want to actually move to the sleepy towns and countryside near it, which would ruin the peace and quiet I moved here for. The Japanese auto plants specifically seek semi-rural areas where they can have useful monopsony power and the people aren't very sympathetic to unions; the reason that the Illinois is a dark horse is that Honda probably wants the assembly plant closer to the engine plant they already have in Ohio.
