Round 2, done. Elapsed time: 38 minutes.

Round 2 consists of copying the information from the spreadsheet onto the paper forms. Round 1 (pulling the numbers off of the paper records and plugging them into the spreadsheet) was done weeks ago, but I couldn't push myself to do round 2 that night. And then I got sick, and got into the rut of putting it off. But this is pretty much the last minute.

Tomorrow comes Round 3, making the xeroxes, stapling the forms together, and sealing the envelopes.

Someday, it will be possible to do the whole stupid job on the computer without having to pay anyone for the privilege, but until I'm confident I can file on-line without greater aggravation that paper, I will keep doing it this way.

Every year, I resolve to get the job done (and get my refund) early. Somehow, I usually end up not actually doing it until the last minute.

You probably don't want to try it, but being poorer than poor helps a LOT for motivation to get it done early. i'm usually flipping out about not having my w-2's by the second week of january and then fuming because no one has any tax forms until february. i usually file online and take the direct deposit option, but even the online submission isn't available until the end of january.
