A few months ago on This American Life, they discussed the following question, and suggested it was a good way to start a conversation at parties:

If you choose to have the ability to fly (like Superman), or to be invisible, which one would you choose?

Myself, I'd want to be able to fly. Being invisible might be more practical, but flying would be *fun*.

If "flying like Superman" means I could go anywhere in the world in a few seconds, it would be pretty damn practical.

Well, the invulnerability that allows you to not burn up or be ripped apart by air friction is a separate power, so you don't get that.
