Dark out there (who'da thunk it?)

I took a walk around the block a bit ago.  I know there's a full moon up there someplace, but there must have been heavy clouds to the south, because it was quite dark.  People may think I'm odd for wanting to take a walk in the dark in the country without a light, but I enjoy it and I know my path well.  However, I had an experience that provides a new yardstick for "dark" -- it was so dark that a firefly flying toward my face dazzled me and left a distinct afterimage in my vision...

Off on a mission

Having spent too many hours in the last day or so stirring up trouble in the comments on other people's journals, I'm now heading off to drop off my calendar pictures at EFRC and spend the night with a friend in Indy in preparation for spending tomorrow in far southern Indiana helping build tiger cages.  I'll get back tomorrow night late, drop into bed, get up early Sunday, and spend that day, as normal, at EFRC, so I won't be catching up on LJ until Sunday night at the earliest -- and I'm likely to be too tired then.

Please direct cool thoughts my way, as this weekend is going to be hideously hot (heat indexes >100° for here, and I'm going to where it's worse -- I haven't even looked at the forecast, I don't want to know).   I hope I can function and not be a dead weight.
