Today's book review is Starship: Mutiny by Mike Resnick.

This is the first book in a new series.  Stands alone reasonably well, but definitely leads into the next volume.

This is very much a fluff piece.  The plot and the characters are pretty unbelievable.  But it's nonetheless great fun.  A quick read with lots of great action.  Loaded with extremely cynical views of the military establishment and the press establishment (unfortunately, all too true of the corporate press of today; not quite so literally applicable to the military, but still some metaphorical truth I fear).  As long as you're willing to immerse yourself in a story that won't stand up to careful dissection, you should be able to enjoy it.  (Because I know Resnick can do much better on that front, I'm confident that this book is this way because he meant it to be.)  8 out of 10.

I'd rather write a plot summary than go to work, but my boss wouldn't agree with that choice, so I'll add that later.
