Stupid weather

I need a good Saturday hike right now.  Unfortunately it's rained about 6 inches in the last week, so the longer trails I know are most likely impassable.  And we're having more thunderstorms now.

I am cranky.

Indeed! The company where I work is having its 20th-anniversary picnic party today, and the site (a farm outside the town of Allerton) is under a flood warning. Let's all play volleyball in galoshes!

This town is terrible about paved trails. Bloomington/Normal has the Constitution Trail, but that's probably too urban to scratch your nature hike itch.

You wanna be in nature but you want a trail that paved, cleaned, and sanitized?

Find your oldest pair of shoes and see if you can get them so stuck in the mud that you cant get them home. Thats the proper way to send hiking boots to the great trail in the sky!

I've dumped many a boot near minnehaha falls!

I don't want a paved trail, but the trail I'd like to be on becomes very treacherous when it's muddy, and I don't want to break a leg.
