I assume you've heard by now, since it's made the national (and world) headlines. He's the governor of Illinois who has been in the crosshairs of a federal investigation for a couple of years. They decided they had to whack him immediately when he started talking on his wiretapped phone about selling Obama's Senate seat.
Heh. An interesting character. I'm going to have to read up on him some more. Then again, I'm a local of taxachusetts, where such things were done a few decades ago, so it's kinda passe in my book! ;-)
