So here's an HTML question maybe someone could answer for me. While I was trying to get the previous entry to look OK, I realized that what I really wanted was to make the text beside the grass align with the bottom of the picture. In other words, a largish picture on the right side of the page, with a short paragraph on the left, aligned so that the bottom of the paragraph lines up with the bottom of the picture. Or possibly, even better, align the paragraph vertically in the space defined by what's to the left of the image.

You're using a table to block the picture and text side by side? You should be able to adjust the alignment within individual table cells to put the text at top, middle, or bottom, as well as left, right, or centered horizontally.

No, I'm not using a table. I shouldn't need to use a table to specify how one paragraph of text flows around one image, but HTML isn't all it should be.

You do need a table to specify that; what you do is put the text in one column, and the picture in the other. Then you can align the text to your liking.

Oh bother.

Can I make the table force the picture's column to the exact size of the picture and allow the text column to use whatever's left? What happens if there isn't enough room left for the text at all? Without tables, it ends up above or below the picture.

You can do that, but if there is not enough room for the text it will get ugly.

What about putting the text under the picture, as a sort of caption?

The picture isn't nearly wide enough to use the whole width of the page on any reasonable sized browser window, but I don't want to produce HTML that looks too shitty if the window is small.
