Discover says:  New balance $4982.31
Phil says: Eep!

"Next automatic full balance payment of $4,982.31 will be on 05/10/05" -- since that's rather more than I have in the checking account right now, it's time to raid the piggy bank again.  Good thing I woke up with enough ambition to actually do a couple of things that need to be done today and that I remembered that one of the things that need to be done is to check up on the bills.  I have been so completely oblivious to the world for the last couple of weeks that I could easily have slept through this, had the payment bounce, and been in deep doo-doo with Discover and the bank.

I think this is the biggest credit card bill I've ever run up in one month.  ~$3900 of it is the new camera, lenses, memory cards, tripod, and stuff.

And that is why I have an aversion to automatic payments.

Frankly, my ability to lose bills is why I love automatic payments. Normally I have plenty of money in the checking account to cover them, but the checking account has been drawn much lower than normal while I've been unemployed (funny how continuing to spend money without having that paycheck coming in makes that happen), and this camera equipment buying spree was unprecedented and quite unlikely to be repeated.

If I could never EVER touch money again, I would do it in a heart beat.
