Lady Alice

I tried a new apple variety today, Lady Alice.  Not much to write home about, I'm afraid.  A pretty yellow and red apple; fairly crisp texture, but just a little bit soft, short of perfectly crisp.  Sweet, but not tart enough, and not enough flavor to make it worth recommending.  Even a long day outside without very much food wasn't enough to make it yummy.

If you can still find them, try Honeycrisps.

I'm familiar with Honeycrisp; they're quite tasty, a very close second to my favorite variety, Pink Lady. But I still try new ones occasionally. This one was a dud.

Hmmm....

Note to self: Try Pink Lady apples.

i haven't seen those around here at all yet. sounds like i am not missing much.

at this point honey crisps are my favourite, followed by pink lady and ambrosia. i haven't had a winesap in so long that i don't know where it would fall in that lineup, *sigh*.

i am getting a little tired of the ambrosia, since that's been all i've been finding on the last few shopping trips (and i eat a lot of apples these days because of their ideal snack size and relatively low glycemic load). well, "all" considering only apples i really like; there are quite a few varieties i don't care a whole lot for, which unfortunately includes most of the commercial bestsellers.
